We’re excited to share some key highlights from the latest school board meeting. These updates include important changes to policies that affect students and families. To explore all board materials—including meeting dates, policies, and more—please visit the School Board page on our school website or Board on Track.

Parent-Student Handbook Updates

We’ve added several policies to help guide how our school runs and how we support students:

  • NEW! Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy: This sets rules for how AI tools can be used in school, making sure they’re used responsibly.
  • Updated - Child Abuse Policy: A clear plan for how the school handles and reports any concerns about student safety.
  • Updated - Student Code of Conduct: Updated expectations for student behavior, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Updated - Field Trip Policy: New guidelines for planning and attending field trips. Families with five or more students can now use instructional funds to cover up to two chaperone tickets.

Updated: Promotion, Acceleration and Retention Policy

  • Promotion: Students must show they understand key subjects. High school students must earn credits to move up.
  • Acceleration: Students in grades 4–7 may skip a grade if they show advanced learning and get approval.
  • Retention: Students may repeat a grade only if they don’t improve after receiving support. Parents and teachers will work together to make this decision.
  • Appeals: Parents can challenge grade placement decisions and ask the Board to review.
  • Students with Disabilities: Decisions will follow each student’s IEP or 504 Plan.

Thanks for staying informed! These updates are designed to help our school community grow stronger, safer, and more supportive for everyone. As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to Darcy Belleza
