student and parent high five
Melissa Beaudoin

As we wrap up another year of CAASPP testing, let’s take a moment to celebrate our students and learning coaches' incredible dedication, resilience, and efforts. Your participation and positive attitudes persevered, making a lasting impact. The value of these experiences lies not just in the results but in the lessons learned and the growth achieved.

First and foremost, we want to give a massive shout-out to every student who participated in testing. You worked hard, pushed through many challenges, and faced each day with determination. You have all demonstrated that success was not just about the test scores but also about the effort you put in and how you approached those challenges. We know that testing is not always fun, but you did it! Take a moment to applaud yourself for pushing through, bouncing back from any setbacks, and taking on a challenge and seeing it through. These qualities will serve you far beyond the classroom and be worth more than any test score.

No matter the results, the experiences you gain are just as important. CAASPP testing is an excellent opportunity to develop your self-awareness, which helps you understand your strengths and needs for growth. You may have learned time management, how to stay calm and focused, or techniques to keep yourself energized. As you reflect on how you pushed yourself, know these skills can be applied to more than just school. They carry over to sports, dance, karate, painting, hobbies, and other extracurriculars or passions you may participate in.

My third grader and I both faced testing for the first time this year. At first, I was filled with nerves. But as the testing window approached and I embraced the support our school provided, I started to feel like this was something we could tackle together. A significant reason for this was the support the school's testing department, HSTs, and school leadership provided. Their commitment and teamwork made this experience much easier for our family and, I am sure, many others as well. The collaboration among the staff, learning coaches, and students played a key role in making this testing season a success and one that we all approached feeling more prepared and confident.

Education and learning are a journey, not a destination. Test scores don’t define you. Your efforts and determination shape who you are and prepare you for what's ahead. As a mom, I took on the task of preparing my student as she approached this for the first time. As a first-time tester, my student used the tools and strategies given to her by both the school and me. By working as a team, we were able to accomplish amazing things! This collaboration and partnership embody the heart of homeschooling and what makes being part of Sequoia Grove so special.

Thank you to all the students, learning coaches, and staff. Teamwork is dream work! Give your student an enthusiastic HIGH FIVE! We did it!
