sports items surrounding space that says Be Brave, Be Kind, Be You, 2025-2026
Ronni Ernenputsch

As we look ahead to the 2025–2026 school year, I am excited to share our new theme:

🎉 Be Brave. Be Kind. Be You. 🎉

These words are not just a motto. They are an invitation to live with intention.

Be Brave

Bravery doesn't always look like a giant leap. Sometimes it means trying something new, speaking up, or continuing through a hard day. Bravery is choosing growth even when it feels uncomfortable.

Be Kind

Kindness builds connection and trust. It means assuming good intentions, speaking with care, and being gentle with ourselves and others. Kindness lays the foundation for every healthy learning environment.

Be You

Each family, student, and teacher brings something valuable to our community. Embracing who you are and allowing others to do the same creates a space where everyone feels seen and valued.

I’ve always had a healthy fear of heights and sharks. By "healthy," I mean borderline paralyzing. One college trip to Hawaii challenged both fears. After a snorkeling trip, our captain invited us to jump from the top-deck diving board. It was two stories high. My heart pounded as I imagined the sharks waiting below. Still, something in me wanted to leap.

So I did. I ran, plugged my nose, and jumped. For a moment, I felt free. That small act reminded me that I can do hard things. It may have seemed minor, but it helped me face bigger challenges later in life.

We all have our own "diving board moments"—times when we have to choose courage over comfort. Brené Brown says, "Courage is contagious," and I believe that deeply. Our bravery can inspire others, especially our students.

Today’s students are experiencing anxiety at historic levels. Educators are reporting more medical leaves and emotional distress than ever before. This is a sign that we need to act. As parents and educators, we have the opportunity to build a culture that promotes resilience and courage.

In our personalized charter model, we’re fortunate. We can step outside for nature walks. We can shift our plans when needed. Our students are not bound to desks or rigid routines. But even in this flexible system, we sometimes forget how powerful our freedom really is.

As summer continues, I encourage each of you to take a brave step with your family. Try something new or stretch yourself in a way that makes you proud. When school begins again in August, share that moment with your Homeschool Teacher.

Our children are always watching. When we model bravery, kindness, and authenticity, we invite them to do the same.

Let’s create a school year filled with courage, connection, and joy.

Be Brave. Be Kind. Be You. Together.
